With the Winnipeg Jets season well under way, we’re off to a 2-1 record and Jets fans couldn’t be happier! With Captain Andrew Ladd leading the way, you can’t help but think of the individual players that are making this team a success. The Winnipeg Jets team acquired a set of new players and brought up two draft picks into the starting line up over the off-season that are making quite a splash. With the new Jet dynamic, it’s making this upcoming season just a little bit more special.

The first two traded noteworthy players acquired in the off-season to the Jets are right-winger Devin Setoguchi and in centre, Michael Frolik.

The Jets traded Devin from the border rivals, the Minnesota Wild for a second round draft pick in 2014 and since drafted, he’s totaled 3 points in 3 games including the game-winning goal against the Los Angeles Kings on October 4.

Frolik on the other hand, was acquired from the Chicago Blackhawks for a third and fifth round pick in the 2014 draft and since starting the Jets season, he’s also scored 3 points in 3 games including a game winning goal in their season opener against the Edmonton Oilers! Have I mentioned that Michael’s coming off a Stanley Cup Championship? Not too shabby in the off-season for the Jets Hockey Club!

Two sharp and young developing players starting out this season to look out are none other than our two draft picks, Mark Scheifele and newcomer Jacob Trouba.

Even though you can’t really call Scheifele an up-and-coming man after playing 11 games with the Jets from being acquired seventh overall in the 2011 Draft, his consistency in this new season has made an unexpected splash that hopes to excel as the season continues. From tallying just one point from 2011 to 2013, he’s already scored a goal and assist in the first 3 games of the new season. In every game he played, he has proven to be a true staple in the Jets lineup.

The Winnipeg Jets’ youngest newcomer is fresh out of the University of Michigan has made quite the splash on the roster. Ninth overall pick in the 2012 draft, Jacob Trouba’s debut into the National Hockey League has been far from exceptional. In his first 3 games, like Scheifele, he’s gained a goal and an assist and looking good doing it.

With these 4 new exceptional players wearing the blue and white, to every fan it feels like a promising season with the hope of further success. With change comes either success or failure but with the statistics these new guys are bringing in, you can’t help but feel optimistic.
